SAE Aero Design Competition Wings — UofT Aerospace Team

As a member of the University of Toronto Aerospace Team's UAS Aerodynamics group, I work with a team of 7 to optimize the aerodynamics and manufacture the wings of U of T's aircraft for the SAE Aero Design Competition.
  • Hardware design: Designed lighter, more manufacturable motor and servo mounting hardware, improving the aircraft's efficiency.
  • Aerodynamic trade studies: Used OpenVSP to evaluate trade-offs across wing shapes; findings contributed to the team's decision to adopt a new box-wing design.
  • Manufacturing: Hands-on fabrication of wing structures for the competition aircraft.
SolidWorks, OpenVSP, composite and foam fabrication techniques.
